President’s Corner

Greetings,

Welcome to the website for Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., seated in Prince William County, Virginia. The men of Xi Alpha Lambda (XAL) Chapter are a cross section of the local community many of whom are military officers (active duty and retired),  government professionals, educators, engineers and businessmen.  We are leaders in the community and consistently work to project the positive image of Alpha men as Servants of All.  As a chapter, we also endeavor to continuously develop our fraternal bonds to bring us closer as Brothers in the Brotherhood of Alpha Phi Alpha that we hold so dear in our hearts.

Our theme for the 2010-2012 fraternal years is XAL Excellence! Strengthening the Bond of Brotherhood, Value-Added Community Service and Betterment of Youth. With this as a guiding principle, we strive to make tangible and sustained impacts on the lives of the residents of the communities that we serve, in the Southern Fairfax and Prince William Counties.  We also endeavor to focus on nurturing our most precious resource, our young people, and show them the way to success with an objective to provide value-added service and advocacy to aid the less fortunate in our communities.

Throughout the fraternal year we participate in numerous programs in the Northern Virginia area, including our mentoring programs, Alpha Academy and Project Alpha, in partnership with Potomac Middle School in Woodbridge, VA.  Additionally, Xi Alpha Lambda, along with Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA, is a proud sponsor of Boy Scout Troop #1906.

Through these projects and many others to include Adopt-A-Highway, Alexandria Detention Center and March of Dimes, we aim to lead by example, positively impacting our communities in the ever-changing world around us.

Xi Alpha Lambda is also a member of the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. (IDSEF) founded in honor of our late Brother, Bro. Ira Dorsey.  This non profit organization is committed to promoting educational advancement to include providing scholarships to prospective college students who met certain academic and extracurricular criteria.

Lastly, if you would like to receive additional information on chapter meeting times or supporting one of our many educational and/or service projects as an individual or corporate sponsor, please send a note to xal_president@apaxal.com.  The chapter’s mailing address is Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter, Post Office Box 10371, Alexandria, VA 22310.

Fraternally,
