Third Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast

(Fort Belvoir, VA) – The Prince William County Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will host its Third Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Breakfast at 9:00am on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Sheraton Suites Hotel located at 801 North Asaph Street in Alexandria, VA 22314.

The theme for this year’s program is “The Lessons Learned from Dr. King’s Life” with Reverend Dr. Norman A. Tate of Heritage Fellowship Church of Herndon, VA as the keynote speaker.

The MLK Breakfast will highlight the significance of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who fought valiantly for equality and civil rights in America. Dr. King was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., thus a special bond is shared between the Fraternity and the memory of Dr. King. “The third annual breakfast is what I hope will become an annual celebration of our brother, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” said Chapter President Chris Washington.

Speaking on the importance of the event, program organizer Floyd Jones said, “It is our intention to utilize this program to commemorate the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a constant in our lives because of his strong will to make much needed changes in our society. We hope the people of Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC Metropolitan area will embrace this program as a symbolic way to join us and celebrate the lesson’s of Dr. King’s life.”

The MLK Breakfast is open to the public and tickets can be purchased for $40 each per adult and $20 per student aside from contest participants. The Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is one of the premier chapters for alumni members located within the Prince William County/Northern Virginia Area. It is the intent of the Chapter to be a driving and positive force within the surrounding community.
