The men of Xi Alpha Lambda (XAL) Chapter, seated in Prince William County, Virginia are dedicated to selfless service and making the communities in which we live better.  As a chapter, we are committed to upholding our aims of manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind.

We are intimately focused on strengthening our fraternal Brotherhood, by providing physical wellness and fitness events, stimulating the ambition of our brothers and preparing them for leadership positions in and out side of the fraternity.  We encourage our members to always portray the highest form of professionalism and manhood.  This process of enriching our brotherhood helps us to strengthen our fraternal bond, which results in a strong collective force, able to withstand all that might stand in our way of being servants of all.

Our fraternal theme for 2016-2018 is: “Brotherhood and Mission”.  This theme is focused on maintaining and growing our chapter brotherhood, as well as executing to the best of our ability all of the fraternal programs. This is our guide path and it supports our fraternal mission.

Xi Alpha Lambda sponsors and is involved with many programs and initiatives throughout the Northern Virginia area.  Some of our programs and projects are: Project Alpha, “Go to High School, Go to College”, Support to the Advancement via Individual Determination Program and Alpha Academy.  One of our biggest honors is the sponsorship of Boy Scouts of America, Troop #1906. Since it’s inception, Troop 1906 has produced four Eagle Scouts. The Troop is postured to produce like numbers in the coming years. These efforts provide mentoring to young males through the interaction of positive role models and the introduction of social, life, academic and professional skills which are paramount to helping them become academically successful, as well as productive citizens.

Some of our other projects include: Adopt-A-Highway, Alpha Closet, Make A Difference Day, support to local homeless shelters, Relay for life and support to the March of Dimes (March for Babies).

Our Foundation, better known as the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc or (IDSEF), is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, committed to promoting and awarding academic achievement by providing scholarships to high school seniors matriculating to college.  The Foundation was created in honor of one of our deceased charter members, Brother Ira Dorsey.

  • Origins of Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter

In the late summer of 1980, the idea of establishing an Alpha Phi Alpha chapter that would be directed towards serving the communities of Prince William and Southern Fairfax Counties took momentum. It was on May 31, 1981, that 34 brothers chartered Xi Alpha Lambda (XAL) in Prince William County, VA as Key Number #590. The men of XAL Chapter consists mostly of active and retired military officers, government civilians and businessmen. We are leaders in the community who are constantly striving to project the positive image of Alpha men as Servants of All.
