Saturday, June 17 – Black and Gold Ball
The Brothers of the Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. (IDSEF) cordially invite you to the 2017 Black and Gold Ball – A Night of Transcendence.  This Black Tie event will be held at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner hotel, 7920 Jones Branch Drive McLean, VA 22102 on Saturday, June 17, 2017. The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner begins at 7 p.m. The IDSEF scholarships will be presented at the Ball. This will be an affair that you do not want to miss. Please join us as we continue our proud tradition of celebrating the excellence and achievements of outstanding college-bound students!


  • Individual Tickets $110 per person

  • Hotel Reservations  Our room block at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner ($99 per night room rate for the June 16 -17, 2017 weekend). Cutoff date for room block is May 27, 2017.     • Regular rooms are $99 per night, $149 for Junior Suite per night and $199 for Large Suite per night. If interested in a suite, it must be booked via Bro Winchester. If you book via the hotel, we will inform the hotel that it is a mistake and your name will be taken off the list.
    • For every Friday stay or Sunday stay including Saturday night (Weekend of June 17th)  the Hilton will give the Ira Dorsey Foundation $5 back per room.

  • Origins of Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter

    In the late summer of 1980, the idea of establishing an Alpha Phi Alpha chapter that would be directed towards serving the communities of Prince William and Southern Fairfax Counties took momentum. It was on May 31, 1981, that 34 brothers chartered Xi Alpha Lambda (XAL) in Prince William County, VA as Key Number #590. The men of XAL Chapter consists mostly of active and retired military officers, government civilians and businessmen. We are leaders in the community who are constantly striving to project the positive image of Alpha men as Servants of All.
